About Us

Welcome to Dragons Den Exotics, a newly owned brick and mortar reptile and exotic pet shop based in Newcastle Upon Tyne with over 25 combined years experience of qualified zoologists in keeping and breeding reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. We are passionate about up to date keeping standards, and pride ourselves on ethical reptile keeping and promote welfare and captive bred healthy reptiles above all else – reptile keeping is not just a job for us, but a hobby, a passion, and an obsession!

Initially established in 2010, we have been a staple in the North East’s reptile community for over a decade and a half, and as of 2026 find ourselves under new ownership – so whether you are a regular friendly face or a newcomer, we encourage you to drop down and say hi!

Dragons Den Exotics has a 5 Star Rating, the highest possible rating of under the Animal Activities Licensing Scheme, License number PSH102 issued by Newcastle City Council.

Huge variety for reptile food, a lot of reptiles, arachnids and snakes in stock, Got my gecko setup from here, and my gecko is super confident in it, good value for the food and would definitely recommend going there, staff are extremely helpful and friendly

Always love this place, they looked after my little guy Pablo when I was moving house and then kept him longer when I ended up in hospital which was great piece of mind to know he was safe. Always supply good live food and the plants are great too! Bit pricier than something like a pets at home but I’d rather pay more and actually get decent value stuff from an independent shop with knowledgeable staff any day than some chain with no clue.

Brilliant, was in last week and spotted a beautiful whites tree frog, already owning multiple frogs, I melted, got home and set up his enclosure, picked him up today, over the moon, put him in and he took 3 wax worms and a cricket straight out the tongs. Updated pictures, growing well

Takes me about an hour to get there, but well worth the travel. Is a little shop but quite a lot of critters to choose from, and plenty dry goods too, lots of choice! Fantastic little place and great service. Staff lovely and friendly and helped me with exactly what I was after. Was after a couple dart frogs and managed to get them ordered in very quickly. Very happy with them also picked up one of the impcornalone milk snakes, absolutely beautiful snake. Definitely be back for more lol. Thanks guys!

My partner and I have bought a couple of animals from here. The staff are always super helpful with set-up tips and offer amazing prices and deals. We love that they do loyalty cards on live feeder bugs!
Our little guy, Forg the frog, is very grateful for all the locusts!
